
Dr. McLaurin Appointment
We are thrilled to share that Boyer’s Medical Director, Jennie McLaurin, MD, was recently honored with a national appointment: Senior Fellow, Public Health Integration and Innovation with the National Association of Community Health Centers. In this role, she works on national strategies around equity in care to populations affected by COVID, as well as encouraging immunizations to all, especially underserved and marginalized children. She works with policy deliberations at the Congressional and White House levels. She is also helping shape a project called Healing Households, which looks at childhood obesity, family stress, and social determinants of health as well as holistic responses to those interrelated issues. Despite these new responsibilities, she will continue to serve as Boyer’s Medical Director and remain an important resource for our families, staff and community. Congratulations, Dr. McLaurin, on this truly incredible achievement! _ _ _ _ _ _ Dr. McLaurin is a pediatrician, writer, and public health expert with particular interests in culture, bioethics, special needs children and spirituality. She has a degree in chemistry from Salem College as well as degrees in medicine, theology and public health. She finished a pediatric residency and then a year of fellowship work in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. She has worked with marginalized and underserved communities in the US for over 33 years, caring for migrant, homeless, indigenous, and special needs populations. She also teaches pediatrics to medical students at Pacific Northwest School of Health Sciences. Dr. McLaurin loves her work at Boyer Children’s Clinic as it exemplifies all she holds as good in the world of health care.
