Programs & Services
Therapy
Physical and occupational therapists use the guidelines of Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Sensory Integration and other therapy techniques to help children learn to explore and interact with their environment. Therapists assist families to learn special ways to help their child when they care for them at home. Adaptive equipment such as splints and wheelchairs may be secured to help the child be as functional as possible. Children under 12 months of age may be seen at home or in their daycare setting. Older children are usually seen in the clinic or in their preschool program.
Speech and Language Therapy
Speech pathologists work with infants and young children, individually and in groups, on the development of early cognitive skills considered necessary for language development, sound production, and receptive and expressive language. Non-vocal communication systems such as manual signing, picture exchange, communication boards, and electronic devices may be implemented for some children. Specialized treatment to improve oral motor function and feeding skills is provided primarily by speech pathologists, but may also be provided by occupational therapists or physical therapists.
Transportation
Many families provide their own transportation. Boyer Children’s Clinic attempts to arrange transportation for any child who has no other means of attending.
What about fees?
Fees are charged based on ability to pay after consideration of other resources. When determining the source(s) for payment of our services, the family’s eligibility for third party payments, such as medical insurance, Dept. of Health, Medicaid, and Division of Developmental Disabilities from the State of Washington and Part C of IDEA are thoroughly explored. Many medical insurance companies require a referral before services can begin. No child, however, is denied services because of their parent’s inability to pay.
