Upcoming Summer Events!
ow that summer is in full swing, we wanted to let you know about a few upcoming events that Boyer is supporting around the city. We hope you will be able to join us!
Special Olympics USA Games: Sunday, July 1 – Friday, July 6
Boyer is thrilled that Seattle is hosting the upcoming USA Games! This annual event showcases athletes of all abilities through world-class competition, inspirational experiences, and modeling inclusion for all. Sporting events are located around the city and are free to attend, so don’t miss this unique opportunity! View the schedule.
Special Olympics Soccer Game: Monday, July 2
Boyer staff will be volunteering with our friends from the University of Washington Women’s Soccer program on the evening of Monday, July 2 to cheer on players and to help with the soccer fan march to the field! The game (at the UW Soccer Stadium) runs from 7:30 – 9pm. Admission to the soccer game is free and members of the Sounders will also be in attendance to play, sign autographs, etc.
Zoo for All: Thursday, July 5
To celebrate its commitment to inclusion, the zoo will host its first Zoo for All event to acknowledge and honor families and individuals of all abilities. Among the features of Zoo for All are additional accessible parking spaces, a new zoo map to help identify quieter locations, a social story – prepared in collaboration with Boyer – so that families can know what to anticipate during their visit, and a reconfiguration of Zoomazium’s nature play space to make it suitable for children with autism and other sensory disorders. For more information, visit the Zoo website. Boyer has complimentary tickets available (limit 4 per family), so if you are interested, please stop by the front desk at either our Montlake or Magnuson clinics to pick yours up!
Boyer Family Reunion at Arena Sports: Monday, July 23 from 10:00am – 12:00pm (tentative)
Boyer will host a special Summer Reunion for all current and alumni families during Arena Sports’ Sensory Friendly FunZone hours in Magnuson Park! This specially designated time helps to ensure a safe and welcoming place for children with sensory differences, delays and disabilities. You can download a storybook “social story” that provides details about what you and your child can expect. Visit Arena Sports’ website for hours and to download the Boyer Social Story! Stay tuned for more information about this event!
Lowlands and March to May concert: Sunday, July 15th
Head to the Triple Door in downtown Seattle for an evening of great music for a great cause! This show is uniquely special because Lowlands lead singer, Tom Rorem, is a current Boyer parent. In gratitude for the care his family has received, Lowlands and March to May will dedicate all proceeds from the live recording of the show to Boyer Children’s Clinic! Purchase your tickets today!
We hope to see you at one or all of these wonderful events!
